• Transporte consigo apenas os documentos necessários.

• Use apenas o dinheiro indispensável separando-o por vários compartimentos.

• Evite aglomerados ao antecipar a compra do título de transporte.

• Aguarde a chegada do seu transporte, em especial no período noturno, em locais com maior visibilidade e, de preferência, próximo de câmaras de vigilância.

• Redobre a atenção quando o comboio está parado, especialmente quando ouvir o sinal de fecho de portas.

• Evite viajar isoladamente.

• Procure sentar-se junto à janela e de frente para a saída mais próxima de si.

• Mantenha os seus pertences junto a si, nunca os coloque sobre os bancos.

• Mantenha bolsas, mochilas e sacolas na frente do corpo, especialmente em locais lotados.

• Evite ostentar objetos de valor.

• Evite adormecer, a ocasião faz o ladrão.

• Se for vítima de assalto não reaja. Capte o máximo de caraterísticas possíveis dos assaltantes e dirija-se à esquadra mais próxima.

• Maximize a sua segurança, minimizando a exposição ao perigo. Comunique a qualquer agente da autoridade, vigilante ou funcionário, quaisquer suspeitas. Sempre que tenha qualquer dúvida ou se sinta ameaçado, contacte a polícia.

It is the duty of the Public Transport Security Division, through its Police Stations, to ensure the safety of people and property within the public transport network, including the Lisbon Metro network, the Tram lines 15 and 28 of Carris and the CP Suburban Train lines of Cascais, Sintra and Azambuja (in this line the National Police’s jurisdiction ends at the Vila Franca de Xira station).

Preventive behaviour is the best way to avoid crime in or near the public transport network. Adopt these safety precautions at all times to avoid unpleasant situations.

• Carry only the necessary documents with you.

• Carry only an indispensable amount of money and split it in diferent pockets.

• Avoid crowds by buying your ticket in advance.

• Wait for your transport, especially at night, in places with good visibility and preferably in view of surveillance cameras.

• Pay close attention when the train/tram is stopped – especially when you hear the doors closing buzzer.

• Avoid travelling alone.

• Try to sit near a window and facing the nearest exit.

• Keep your belongings close to you. Never place them on the seats.

• Keep bags, backpacks and baggage in front of you, especially in overcrowded places.

• Avoid displaying valuable objects.

• Avoid falling asleep. Thieves are always looking for easy targets.

• In case of theft, do not react. Try to memorise the thief’s features and go to the nearest Police Station.

• Maximise your safety by minimizing your exposure to danger.
